Universal Dining Plans: What You Need to Know Before You Go

If you're headed to Universal Orlando Resort, chances are you're dreaming of thrilling rides, immersive lands like The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and, of course, all the food! But before you start planning where to grab a Butterbeer or a giant pink donut, you might be wondering: Is the Universal Dining Plan worth it? How does it work?

At Let’s Talk Travel, we’ve broken it all down for you — from pricing and what's included to where to use it and how to decide if it fits your vacation style.

🍔 What Is a Universal Dining Plan?

Universal offers two types of dining plans that allow you to prepay for meals during your stay (plus a third plan that allows you to add on a Coca-Cola Freestyle cup). These plans are exclusively available to guests with Universal vacation packages or through select travel agents (like us!).

These plans are currentlu valid at Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and select CityWalk restaurants.

🧾 Types of Universal Dining Plans

1. Universal Dining Plan (Full-Service + Quick-Service)

Currently only available with select vacation packages.

Includes (per person, per day):

  • 1 Full-Service Meal (entrée, drink, and tip)

  • 1 Quick-Service Meal (entrée + drink)

  • 1 Snack

  • 1 Non-Alcoholic Beverage

This is the most comprehensive plan, but note: it’s not currently offered as a walk-up or day-of purchase — it must be bundled with a qualifying package.

2. Universal Quick-Service Dining Plan

Available at the parks and through participating travel agents.

Includes (per person, per day):

  • 1 Quick-Service Meal (entrée + drink)

  • 1 Snack

  • 1 Non-Alcoholic Beverage

This plan is more flexible and can be purchased in advance or at select dining locations and merchandise kiosks in the parks.

3. Universal Quick-Service Dining Plan + Coca-Cola Freestyle Souvenir Cup

Includes:

  • Everything in the Quick-Service Plan, plus

  • 1 Coca-Cola Freestyle® Souvenir Cup with unlimited refills for the day

Perfect for hot park days and great for families who love to stay hydrated.

💰 How Much Do the Dining Plans Cost?

Pricing may vary depending on the season and your vacation package, but here are the estimated 2025 prices (per person, per day):

    Approx. $27.99 + tax

  • Quick-Service Dining Plan + Coca-Cola Freestyle Souvenir Cup

  • Bottled water or soda

The Coca-Cola Freestyle Cup works at dozens of drink stations throughout the parks.

📝 How Does It Work?

Using the Universal Dining Plan is simple:

  1. Buy the Plan in advance (or at the park for Quick-Service plans).

  2. Link to Your Ticket or Get a Card at a participating kiosk or guest services.

  3. Use Your Credits — there’s no need to use meals in any specific order or timeframe during the day.

  4. Track Your Use — you’ll get a receipt after each purchase showing your remaining meals/snacks.

Note: You must use all credits on the same day they are activated. Credits do not roll over to the next day.

🎯 Is the Universal Dining Plan Worth It?

Here’s when it makes sense to get a dining plan:

✅ You plan to eat entirely in the parks
✅ You like the idea of budgeting meals in advance
✅ You’re doing a package deal with Let’s Talk Travel
✅ You want to enjoy Harry Potter-themed meals without price shock
✅ You drink a lot of soda or Freestyle beverages

Here’s when you might skip it:

🚫 You plan to eat at CityWalk restaurants or off-property
🚫 Your group includes light or picky eaters
🚫 You want more dining flexibility or plan to snack throughout the day
🚫 You're only spending a half-day at the park

We can help calculate whether a dining plan will actually save you money or add unnecessary cost to your trip.

✨ Let’s Talk Travel Tip

Want to eat at The Leaky Cauldron or Three Broomsticks without waiting in a long line? We recommend mobile ordering in the app when possible — and arriving during off-peak meal hours (before 11:30am or after 2pm). Dining plans are accepted via mobile orders at many locations!

You can add a Universal Dining Plan when you book:

  • A Universal Orlando Resort vacation package
