What’s in My Bag: Theme Park Edition 🎒
If you’ve ever spent a full day at Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, or any other theme park, you know the struggle: you want to travel light, but you also don’t want to be caught unprepared. After countless park days, I’ve perfected my theme park bag essentials—everything you need for a smooth, stress-free adventure from rope drop to fireworks.
Here’s what I always pack:
🎟️ Park Must-Haves
Tickets, passes, and ID – Whether it’s your MagicBand, app, or printed ticket, double-check you have access ready to go.
Wallet & phone – Keep it light: ID, card, a little cash, and your smartphone for mobile orders and photos.
Portable charger – Your phone will be working overtime with photos, maps, and ride times. A power bank is a lifesaver.
A Disney annual pass
🌞 Comfort & Weather Essentials
Sunscreen – Apply before you go, then bring a travel-sized bottle for touch-ups.
Sunglasses or hat – Shade yourself while waiting in those sunny lines.
Poncho or small umbrella – Florida showers (or water rides!) can sneak up on you. A lightweight poncho folds tiny.
Cooling towel or handheld fan – Game changers on hot summer days.
Universal Studios ponchos
🧃 Snacks & Hydration
Reusable water bottle – Refill at water fountains and save money on bottled drinks.
Portable snacks – Granola bars, fruit snacks, or trail mix keep kids (and adults) happy between meals.
A variety of different water bottles
👟 Kid & Family Helpers
Wipes & sanitizer – Sticky fingers and theme parks go hand in hand.
Change of clothes (for little ones) – Accidents, spills, and water rides happen. Toss in a Ziploc for dirty clothes.
Small first-aid kit – Band-Aids for blisters, pain relievers, and any necessary meds.
A variety of Disney hand sanitizers
🎢 Park Day Extras
Light jacket or sweater – Evenings can get chilly after the sun goes down.
Autograph book & pen (for Disney) – A magical extra for kids meeting characters.
Foldable tote bag – Handy if you pick up souvenirs along the way.
An autograph book featuring Pluto’s signature
✨ Pro Tip: Keep your bag small enough to fit into ride lockers (Universal requires this for some attractions). A lightweight backpack or sling bag is usually perfect.
